Overall SearchOverall Search
As an extended service GenTeam provides as of now an overall search to help researchers especially when looking for (uncommon) names. Valid search terms are lastname and firstname.
All available databases will be searched (with the exception of the Gazetteer), acutally there are 7.529.268 names. | | Last Updated on Monday, 01 April 2013 09:47 | GazetteerGazetteer of Czech, Austrian and Slovenian Republic
In this database you will find about 68.000 locations in Austria (with South Tirol) and in the Czech and Slovenian republics. It contains former and present names of locations, current and former parish affiliation, year that existing records begin, archival districts, and political districts or crownland.
If you are uncertain about the correct spelling of a location, you may also search for a portion of its name. This will produce a larger number of results, and also to the correct village.
For example: Langendorf
- "Is" will generate 9 hits in the database
- "Starts with" will generate 11 , also ie Langendörflas
- "Contains" will generate 19 results, also ie Neu Langendorf or Unter Langendorf
You may also purchase the gazetteers of Bohemia, Moravia, Austria (without South Tirol) and Slovania at IHFF (www.ihff.at). They can be used in the archives where you will always find new locations during research. | | Last Updated on Tuesday, 04 October 2011 17:29 | LodgesMembers of different lodges

| | Last Updated on Sunday, 16 December 2012 10:54 | Roman Catholic BaptismsIndex of Roman Catholic baptisms of Vienna between 1585 and 1900
Projektbeginn: Oktober 2012

Since 1783, two different Protestant Parishes exist in Vienna: AC and HC. As a first step indices of marriages of the parish AB between 1783 and 1860 are available now. These records are not on microfilm or digital, but only available in the parish office.

This index was made by Mr. DI Georg Gaugusch (

), Mrs. Traude Triebel (

) and Felix Gundacker (

) and contains births and marriages since 1826, deaths since 1866, all up to 1910.
It must be said, that this index contains mistakes - but surely less than 3 per cent. You can view the records in the Viennese City Archives, for example. | | Last Updated on Wednesday, 15 December 2010 08:46 | Civil MarriagesThe Civil marriages in Vienna between 1870 and 1908
Since 1870, the civil marriage was possible because of the Reichsgesetzblatt number 49 dated May 25th, 1868 and was valid untill August 1st, 1938. Due to the fact, that § 64 of the AGBG 1811 was still active, a Christian part had first to leave the church, whereas a possible Jewish part only needed a marriage refusal of the Rabbi.
These marriages have been recorded in own Vital Statistics; the duplicates are stored in the Viennese City Archives. Univ. Doz. Dr. Anna Lea Staudacher of the Austrian Acadamy of Sciences (ÖAW) has now stored all marriages between 1870 and 1908 (books 1-5). My special thanks go to the Heraldic and Genealogical Society “Adler”, Vienna. Further information about this project can be found in the journals of the “Adler” between 2007 and 2010. | | Last Updated on Wednesday, 11 January 2012 19:48 | Jewish ResignationsResignations from the Jewish Community in Vienna between 1868 and 1914
About 18.000 resignations from the Jewish community between 1868 and 1914 show us the change of time in Vienna. Some of them have been baptised, a view didn´t belong to any denomination. Sources of this database, important for so many historians and genealogists, have been the official resignations and the leaving-protocols of the Jewish Community Vienna City, Ottakring and Sechshaus. Further information has been used: records of the Jewish Community, Roman Catholic and Protestant Church as well as Civil records, the proselyte protocols of the JC and protocols of Surname-changes of the Niederösterreichische Statthalterei.
WStLa/mba directs the user to the protocol-number of the resignation, to find in the Viennese City Archives. mba and the number after means district office and the number of the district. If another location is named, the leaving will be found there. In the ros IKG the user will find year and number of the protocol.
A lot of further information, especially of baptisms and biographies, can be found in the printed version. | | Last Updated on Wednesday, 15 December 2010 08:46 | Converts in ViennaConverts in Vienna
Between 1782 and 1868 more than 3000 Jews converted in Vienna. Together with the baptized jewish foundlings 6000, up to 1914 more than 18000 left Judaism, mostly poor people, later, in the second half of the 19th century mostly better educated, belonging to the middle class and grande bourgeoisie, also many intellectuals, artists, musicians and writers.
This database was generated from two two-volume books by Anna L. Staudacher, with the kind allowance of Peter Lang international academic publishers : - Jüdische Konvertiten in Wien 1782-1868 (2001, 460+732 pages - 3000 converts - printed version here ISBN 3-631-39406-3) - Jüdisch-protestantische Konvertiten in Wien 1782-1914 (2004, 495+838 pages - 6000 converts - printed version here ISBN 3-631-50413-6)
Genealogical details, as parents of the converts, baptized spouse and children can be found in the printed version.
In addition see also the databases Foundling baptizms, Resignations and Civil marriages. Further informations about the project Jewish Converts in Austria and publications here | | Last Updated on Thursday, 13 January 2011 22:26 | Foundling BaptismsFoundling Baptisms in Vienna Between 1816 And 1868
Between 1816 and 1868 more than 3.300 children of Jewish mothers have been baptized under compulsion in the Foundling Home in Alservorstadt, Vienna. Until 1843, each child also received a different surname after separation from its mother. By the age of ten, the child could leave the Foundling Home. If a mother wanted to see her child within these 10 years of the Foundling Home, she had to be baptized also. Most mothers came from the poverty-stricken strata of Bohemia, Moravia and Hungary.
The sources of the protocols can be found in the Wiener Stadt- und Landesarchiv (Viennese City and County Archive).
Further information can be found in the printed version. | | Last Updated on Thursday, 13 January 2011 22:22 | Medical Doctors from ViennaMedical Doctors from Vienna
The graduation protocols for the years 1818-1934 (with the exception of volume 1934-1938) as well as the doctorial protocols from 1821-1941 of the medical faculty of the University of Vienna, which were kept by the rectory were completely evaluated. Furthermore, all nationalities of Jewish members of the medical faculties were extracted independently every eighth winter semester (WS 1866-67, WS 1871/71, WS 1874/75 and so on) beginning with the winter semester 1862/67 through the winter semesters 1938/39. Only the basic data of persons listed will be made public according to the laws of the Austrian Civil Registries.

The spelling of surnames were transcribed literally (or) to the letter from original documents.
The spelling of names of cities and townships were proved for correctness and listed in the current spelling.
When only one number per year is given (for example „1855“), it indicates most of the time back-counted year; thus, not an exact year was given.
When a year is enclosed in parenthesis (), it stands for the year of reference.

| | Last Updated on Friday, 17 December 2010 07:22 | Civil Marriages Graz and SalzburgThe Civil marriages in Graz and Salzburg between 1870 and 1912
Since 1870, the civil marriage was possible because of the Reichsgesetzblatt number 49 dated May 25th, 1868 and was valid untill August 1st, 1938. Due to the fact, that § 64 of the AGBG 1811 was still active, a Christian part had first to leave the church, whereas a possible Jewish part only needed a marriage refusal of the Rabbi.
These marriages have been recorded in own Vital Statistics; in Vienna, duplicates are stored in the Viennese City Archives. In Graz, they are stored at the “Amtshaus Bürgerservice”, in Salzburg at the registry office. Univ. Doz. Dr. Anna Lea Staudacher of the Austrian Acadamy of Sciences (ÖAW) has now stored all marriages between 1870 and 1912. My special thanks go to the Heraldic and Genealogical Society “Adler”, Vienna. Further information about this project can be found in the journal of the “Adler” 26. Band, Heft 8 (October-December 2012).

Thomas Albrich: Judenbichl. Die jüdischen Friedhöfe in Innsbruck
http://www.haymonverlag.at/page.cfm?vpath=buecher/buch&titnr=637
